What This Skill Does

The Problem

Driveway sealing is one of the most marketing-mistake-prone trades in home services. "Coal tar sealer is the best, professional-grade formula" — that claim alone can trigger Prop 65 liability exposure for California-adjacent contractors, HOA enforcement actions, and EPA storm drain violation referrals in Clark County. "No permits needed" blocks every municipality that requires encroachment permits for sidewalk-adjacent work. "Eco-friendly and safe" on a coal tar product is an FTC Green Guides violation.

7 Compliance Gates

Gate 1 — Coal Tar Sealer / PAH Gate [ANCHOR MOAT]

Coal tar-based sealers contain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) at concentrations 1,000–100,000× higher than asphalt emulsion sealers. PAHs are Prop 65 carcinogens (California) and known human health risks under EPA research (USGS 2005–2013 studies). Gate 2 — Clark County Storm Water / SNHD Gate
